my favorite ways to save big on Cricut products

Did I mention that I got a new Cricut for Christmas from Santa?  Okay….it was actually from a guy I love more than Santa…my husband!  🙂  I had been wanting a new machine for a while now and was tickled to find one under the tree on Christmas morning.  The big expense of the machine is over, but there is still some cost involved with using a Cricut machine. I want to tell you my favorite ways to save big on Cricut products so you can save some money too!

My Favorite Ways to Save Big on Cricut Products

Cricut Mystery Boxes

If you are a Cricut user and you don’t know about the Cricut Mystery Boxes….that is just plain horrible.  I love these mystery boxes.  The prices can vary each month, but typically the boxes are around $30 to $40 but there is well over $100 in product inside.  You take what you get and you don’t throw a fit though….you won’t know what you are getting!  It is a great way to build up a library of cartridges and other Cricut products.  These mystery boxes make a great gift for a paper crafter too!!

Local Scrapbooking Yard Sales

I hope you still have a local scrapbooking store.  I am lucky to have one about 40 minutes away.  My local store, Scrap Funattic, holds a garage sale twice a year for their patrons.  All the area scrapbookers will sell their own items at the store in garage sale fashion.  It is a great place to find DEALS on all sorts of things, but especially on Cricut products.  I also always keep my eyes open at thrift stores, garage sales and flea markets….you never know when you will find an awesome deal.

I have also talked with some crafters lately who have gotten their friends together and are having a CRAFTS ONLY garage sale at their house.  They said they did it last year and sold a TON of stuff!  They advertised primarily on Facebook.  I made over $1000 at my last garage sale, but it wasn’t from craft supplies—-I hoard those, LOL!

Online Sales and Groups

I am in several Facebook groups for paper crafters.  Some of these groups allow people to sell their items.  This is a fun place to look for treasures that someone is no longer needing.  I have found some really good prices on items that were like new to use with my Cricut.  You can also search your local Buy, Sell, Trade sites for Cricut products.

Cricut Access

Cricut Access is a membership plan that gives you access to the Cricut Image Library.  There are 3 different membership plans available depending on your needs.

  • Cricut Access Fonts:  this allows you to use over 370 non-licensed fonts in the Cricut Library.  This plan starts at $4.99 month.  So if you primarily use your Cricut for page titles, etc then this might be a much cheaper option then buying tons of font cartridges.
  • Cricut Access Standard:  this allows you to use over 30,000 images, fonts and projects in the Cricut Library.  These are all non-licensed items.  This starts at $7.99 month.  You also receive 10% off purchases made at Cricut.com and Design Space.
  • Cricut Access Premium:  this one has the same benefits as the standard plan except you also get 50% off every day on digital fonts, images and cartridges in Design Space and at Cricut.com.  (there are some exceptions to this so read over the information on the Cricut website)  Premium members get exclusive deals and promotions. This plan is $9.99 month but is billed annually.

These plans are perfect for the AVID scrapbooker, DIYer and papercrafter who uses their machine a lot.  There is no need to collect lots of cartridges with these plans!
