Learn an easy way to organize and store Mosaic Moments Dies so they are readily accessible. This storage system is cheaper to put together than other systems and can be done in a few hours.
WHAT IS MOSAIC MOMENTS?
If you are a scrapbooker you will want to get familiar with Mosaic Moments die cutting system. I have become obsessed with these dies!!
The Mosaic Moments Scrapbook System uses thin metal dies along with special grid paper to create layouts that look elaborate but that require no cutting except die cutting.
The thing I love about the Mosaic Moments is that you can use a lot of photos in scrapbook layouts but the layouts don't seem overloaded.
If you are totally new to Mosaic Moments it does take some time to get the hang of creating fabulous layouts, but it is worth the time to learn.
I actually took 2 classes at a CK Scrapbook Convention and it really helped. Luckily if you aren't attending a convention it is no problem. You can watch the youtube tutorials that the Mosaic Moments company has put together.
HOW TO ORGANIZE AND STORE MOSAIC MOMENTS DIES
I have researched different ways to organize and store Mosaic Moments dies and finally settled on a way that works for me.
The base system is an enclosed 3-ring binder that zips. I like that it zips up to make the dies even more secure.
I used magnetic sheets combined with page protectors to store the dies and keep them organized.
There will be a list below of the supplies I used for my die storage binder and I also made a video to walk you through how easy it is to recreate this yourself.
SUPPLIES NEEDED TO STORE MOSAIC MOMENTS DIES
I will list out what I used, but please know that there are other brands available that may work just as well. 🙂 It was handy for me to use some items I already had on hand.
- 3-Ring Binder that is enclosed and zips
- Adhesive Magnetic Sheets 8 x 10
- 8.5 x 11 inch sheets of cardstock
- Heavy Duty Page Protectors with tabs for a 3-ring binder
- Page Dividers for a 3-ring binder
- Labels
The size of binder you get will depend on how many dies you have. I would suggest at least getting a 3-inch, but I have also seen 4-inch binders.
ADHERE MAGNETIC SHEET TO CARDSTOCK
The first step is going to be adhering a magnetic sheet to a sheet of cardstock.
Repeat this process until you have enough sheets to hold all of your dies.
I didn't overload the pages with dies because I wanted to keep different sets separate to make it easy to grab the correct ones.
LABEL SHEETS
Labeling the dies is important because with Mosaic Moments dies you need to be using the correct dies in order for the layouts to work correctly.
I used a label maker to print off labels of the actual die names and attached it at the top of the cardstock page.
Some dies I also labelled on the magnetic sheet with the size.
PUT IN PAGE PROTECTOR
Put each magnetic sheet into a page protector and put it into the 3-ring binder.
You can decide what order you want to put them in. I put the basic die set first because it gets used the most.
Then I organized by sets.
WILL THE MAGNETIC SHEETS HOLD THE DIES?
These magnetic sheets aren't perfect. Overall, I think they hold pretty well unless the dies are bent.
Crafter's Companion has EZMagnetic Panels that I think are probably stronger, but they are also much more expensive. If you have a lot of dies to organize it will be very costly!!
That is the reason I went with the cheaper option. I made over 15 magnetic pages and if I had done the EZMagetic Panels that would have cost me over $100 compared to about $20. 🙂
I also like to put the packages the dies came in in the back side of the page protector so I can refer to the measurements if needed.
WATCH THE PROCESS
I have tried to explain this process in writing, but it may be easier to just watch the video I made, LOL.
