WHY SCRAPBOOK CHICKENS?

My husband and I were in Kauai a few months ago and there were chickens EVERYWHERE! All birds are protected in Hawaii and that includes chickens.

Needlesstosay, I came home with quite a few pictures of chickens! This is a new one for me and I honestly wondered what I would find to use for my chicken photos.

I was thrilled when I received my May ScrapbookingStore.com kit and it had CHICKEN paper in it! WOW…exactly what I needed to create a quick and easy chicken scrapbook layout! (A big thanks to ScrapbookingStore.com for sponsoring this post!)chicken scrapbook layout

HOW TO CREATE A CHICKEN SCRAPBOOK LAYOUT

This layout took me about 30 minutes to create and probably won't take you that long. I was doing it with a broken ankle!! 🙂

STEP ONE: CUT CARDSTOCK

I started off by cutting the Free Range Cardstock (one with the chickens on it) to 10 inches by 9 inches.

Then I cut a strip off the sheet of pink cardstock that was 10.5 inches by 3 inches.

I took the Good Vibrations sheet of cardstock and cut a piece that was 10.5 inches by 2 inches.

I cut mats out of the pink cardstock for my two images. A small journaling mat was also cut out of the pink cardstock.

STEP TWO: TEAR STRIPED CARDSTOCK

The striped cardstock was torn so that it was a little over an inch wide. I tore along both sides so that the white inside showed on both sides.

This was adhered on top of the pink cardstock strip.

STEP THREE:  BOWS

I decided to use some misc ribbon I had at home and make some knotted bows. This was done by cutting 2 small sections of the same colored ribbon.

I tied a knot in the middle of one piece of ribbon and then tied the other piece around it and knotted it too.

The knotted ribbons were secured using some of the adorable decorative enamel brads.

I put these at the bottom of the pink section.

At the top I secured one of the cute American Crafts bows that say hello.

STEP FOUR: CHICKEN STICKER

I wanted to use the chicken sticker that was on the Happy Days sticker sheet. To make the sticker pop more I put it on an extra piece of pink cardstock and then cut out around the chicken.

I secured the chicken to the layout using pop dots so it was 3 dimensional.

STEP FIVE: SECURE IMAGES AND JOURNAL

Last I used adhesive to secure the images to the photo mats and then put them on the layout.

I journaled a little bit about the Kauai chickens and added a small Love It sticker from the Happy Days sticker sheet to the top. I cut this banner journal tag out by hand.

EASY CHICKEN SCRAPBOOK LAYOUT

I hope you enjoyed this easy chicken scrapbook layout as much as I did. Creating simple but beautiful layouts with the perfect piece of cardstock just makes me smile!

If you don't have any photos of chickens you can always use the other side of this sheet. Just one reason I love high quality double sided cardstock!
