How to Create a Valentine's Day Scrapbook Layout
This is a very quick layout. I like easy layouts because I am YEARS behind in my scrapbooking and know that I will never be caught up. It isn't practical for me to spend hours on ONE layout!
Most of the people I scrapbook with have the same issue and appreciate cute layouts that can be finished quickly.
Step One: Cut Cardstock
First cut the top “tag” area off the cardstock sheets: Romance Six, Bubble Gum and Red Licorice.
TIP: The Romance Six has a small quote on part of that top strip that could be kept and used on a future layout.
Take the Romance Six paper and cut 2 inches off the top of the cardstock. Then cut the remaining portion of cardstock in half so that you have 2 six-inch wide pieces.
Now take the Romance Eight sheet of paper and decide which 2 small rectangles you want to use for this layout. The choices are the ones that say: Real Love Stories Never Have Endings, PS: I Still Love You, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Love Always or Forever in Love.
Cut the 2 rectangle cards out that you want for your layout.
Step Two: Place Cut Cardstock
Now use your adhesive roller to place the 2 six-inch pieces of cardstock. One will go on each full sheet of polka dot cardstock as shown in the picture. I placed mine about 1/2 inch from the outside and about an inch down from the top edge.
Place both pieces on the opposite side for a mirror effect.
Step Three: Add Washi Tape Strips
Open the Pebbles Washi Tape Book package.
Pick 2 strips that you love for the layout. These strips are about 11 inches long.
Place one strip vertically on each side of the layout as shown in the picture. This is about 1/2 inch from the outside edge of the six-inch piece of cardstock.
Step Four: Add Images and Small Cards
Now it is time to add our images to the layout. Place one image on each side of the layout. Secure the images with your adhesive runner. I placed mine so that they hang over the six-inch piece of cardstock by about 1 inch.
Adhere the rectangle cards to the lower bottom of the images so they are offset. I usually eyeball these kinds of things, but if you are a very technical person they are place 1 inch above the bottom edge of the photo and 2 inches from the inside edge of the photo.
Step Five: Add Embellishments
Adding embellishments to this Valentine's Day Scrapbook Layout is where it gets fun. This upgraded Scrapbookingstore monthly kit has lots of options!
As much as I LOVE the Pebbles accent stickers I am saving those for other projects.
I took 2 die cut hearts from the Authentique Romance Elements cardstock sheet. I also used the 2 narrow word strips that say: You make my heart smile and Love of my life.
Grab four of the small glittery hearts from the ephemera pack.
First I used my sanding block tool to sand off the little tags from the die cuts.
I glued a glitter heart to the center of each of the die cut hearts.
Pop dots were used to adhere the heart to the top inside corner of each photo. I LOVE Pop Dots! They really make things pop on the layout, LOL.
I adhered one glitter heart to the bottom of the washi tape strips.
Then I adhered the small word strips offset on each rectangle card. One was placed on the top of the card and one on the bottom of the card.
Other Customization Ideas
There are tons of other things you can do with this layout. Here are a few ideas:
- Add more photos…there is plenty of room
- Put more ephemera on the layout
- Add a journal box
- Put 2 washi tape strips on each side instead of only one.
What other ideas do you have?
