How to Make a Cricut Elf Card

The great thing about this elf card is that it can be done in under an hour!  It will look like it took you hours to make..but it won’t!  I love quick crafts.

Make Cards with the Cricut

I was a card maker before I got my first Cricut in 2006.  That was a long time ago!  With the new Cricut Explore and Cricut Maker machines, cutting images for cards is easier than ever.

I love designing cards on the Cricut.  If you have the first Cricut Machine that came out or the Cricut Expression, you will totally understand the struggle of trying to cut shapes to the right size.  You imagine how big a 4” tree is, but in reality, it’s not what you had in mind.  When working on a complex project, it was common to have a stack of unused shapes.

The introduction of the Cricut Explore and Cricut Design Space was a complete game changer when designing cards with multiple shapes.

When I was designing this Harry Potter Card, you can see that I was able to resize all of the shapes so that they fit perfectly with the card and the other shapes.

The card that I’m going to show you today isn’t as complex, but it’s still just as cute!

Supplies Needed for a Cricut Elf Card

How to Make a Cricut Elf Card

Start by cutting out your elf.  If you are using the Cricut Expression, you will find her on the Create A Friend Cricut Cartridge.  If you are using the Explore or Maker, you will design your card in Cricut Design Space.

Open Cricut Design space and in the search bar in the upper right corner, type, elf.  There are quite a few elves that you can cut, but I chose this cute little girl.  Click on her; then click insert image in the lower right corner.

Click and drag the lower right arrow to make your elf the size you want it.  You will see the sizes on the screen and also in the toolbar at the top.  I made my elf 6” tall.

The click the green Make It button in the upper right.  Follow the instructions to cut all of the layers.

When you are finished cutting the pieces, glue them together using a glue pen.

It’s time to start assembling the card.
